Description
TUK E BALANGA, also known as sabja seeds or tukmaria seeds, are the small black seeds derived from the basil plant, scientifically known as Ocimum basilicum. Although they come from the same plant family as the popular culinary herb basil, basil seeds are different in appearance and culinary usage. They are tiny and round with a black outer shell. When soaked in water, they absorb liquid and swell, forming a gel-like outer layer while retaining their crunchiness in the center. The soaked seeds develop a translucent appearance, and their texture becomes similar to tapioca pearls. In culinary applications, they are commonly used as a topping or ingredient in various beverages and desserts. They are often added to refreshing drinks like falooda, lemonade, smoothies, and bubble tea, where they provide a unique texture and visual appeal. they can also be incorporated into puddings, ice creams, yogurts, and fruit salads for added texture and nutrition. Apart from their culinary uses, basil seeds are also believed to possess some health benefits. They are considered to have cooling properties and are traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to aid digestion, relieve constipation, and reduce body heat. Basil seeds are a good source of dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making them a nutritious addition to the diet.
